Martin Truex Jr.’s former partner Sherry Pollex passed away at the age of 44 on September 17 after a long battle with ovarian cancer.
She had been battling ovarian cancer since 2014. Pollex was also the co-founder of the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation which helped children in need. After she suffered the cancer, the foundation turned its attention to the underfunded cancer initiatives specific to childhood and ovarian cancers.”
Additionally, Pollex also started SherryStrong.org to help women with early detection and raise awareness about the treatment options for ovarian cancer.

Truex Jr. and Pollex were in a relationship for 18 years until their breakup in January this year. He paid tribute to his former partner in a heartfelt statement.
“From the very minute of her diagnosis, Sherry was determined to not only fight ovarian cancer with everything she had, but also make a difference in the lives of others battling this terrible disease.
“Sherry’s passion for making a difference in the lives of others was inspiring to everyone. Through her tireless charity works for so many years, her legacy will live well beyond our lifetimes and continue to help countless families who are battling ovarian and childhood cancer.
“I would like to express my deepest condolences to her entire family, who have shown incredible strength and resilience throughout her battle.”
