Hendrick Motorsports No. 9 Chase Elliott got injured while snowboarding in Colorado on Friday.
The following day on Saturday, HMS provided updates on the situation of Chase Elliott, the driver of the team’s No. 9 Chevy Camaro.
According to the team’s general manager Jeff Andrews, the 27-y-o underwent a successful three-hour surgery to mend a fractured tibia.

Kyle Busch said he had texted Chase Elliott last night and this morning to let him know he’s available to share any advice when Chase is ready to talk.
Busch fractured his tibia & fibula in his right leg in 2015.
“We all are human and all should be able to live life.” said Busch
“I do believe chase is gonna be out for at least a month. No question.”
He said Elliott’s recovery time would depend on whether the break was near knee or ankle

“Chase’s health is our primary concern,” Hendrick said ahead of Elliott’s surgery.
“He’s spoken with several members of our team and is understandably disappointed to miss time in the car. Of course, he has our full support and we’ll provide any resources he needs.”
Chase Elliott would need a waiver from NASCAR to be eligible for this year’s playoffs because he’s missing a race.
NASCAR has granted waivers to drivers for a variety of medical and non-medical reasons in the past.
