23XI Racing co-owner Denny Hamlin said that he was not aware of the level of talent of his driver Bubba Wallace and expects him to win multiple races this season.
While Wallace has not set the Cup Series on fire since the switched from Richard Petty Motorsports to 23XI Racing back in 2021, and neither has the team, he is showing steady signs of improvement in his two years there. In the second half of the year, Wallace earned eight top-10 finishes.
“Ugliest scheme he’s run” – Denny Hamlin Daytona 500 paint scheme receives hideous criticism
In both seasons, he managed to get one wins each. And as the second part of the last season progressed, Wallace showed a lot of promise and improvement.
As he enters the third season, progress is expected from his team’s owner, who believes that Wallace can win more than one race this season. Hamlin said about his driver:
“Let’s face it. I think he performed his average finish as good, as better than anyone. He drove the 45 car to the top 10 in points last year.
So he took a step that, I’m not even sure I was aware of that level of talent that he’s got. And I think he’s very, very motivated this year to go win a lot of races.”
Hamlin previously also said that he expects Wallace to make it to the playoffs this time around. As for Wallace, his first challenge will be to better his last year’s Daytona 500 results, where he finished second to Austin Cindric. And after that, to keep a consistent level of driving which he couldn’t keep especially during the first part of last season.
