Richard Childress Racing driver Kyle Busch was caught with a .38 caliber handgun and hollow tip ammunition in his baggage at Cancun Airport last month.
Busch was quickly detained following the finding and eventually sentenced to 3.5 years in prison and a fine of 20,748 pesos ($1,082 U.S. dollars).
According to reports, following his arrest, an investigation was opened, and the arrest was found to be a legitimate arrest.

Two days after the arrest, a Federal Public Ministry Agent presented Kyle Busch to a judge, and the judge issued a sentence. Mr. Busch was fined more than 27,000 pesos, which is almost $1,100 USD, and was sentenced to 3 ½ years in prison

Busch took to social media on Monday afternoon to announce what really transpired.
“When it was discovered, I fully cooperated with the authorities, accepted the penalties, and returned to North Carolina.
“I apologize for my mistake and appreciate the respect shown by all parties as we resolved the matter. My family and I consider this issue closed.” Kyle Busch added.
