This weekend, the 2023 NASCAR season returns at the 1/4-mile asphalt oval that was been built inside the LA Coliseum to host “The Clash”.
During his second practice session with only a couple minutes remaining, Ty Gibbs’s car caught fire reaching inside the cockpit on the right side.
Gibbs was ranked sixth in the overall standings for Saturday’s practice sessions at the time of the fire.

“It definitely sucks to catch on fire but that’s part of it,” Gibbs told Fox Sports.
Fox NASCAR reporter Bob Pockrass confirmed Ty Gibbs will not be allowed to qualify, the team was busily working to repair the car ahead of qualifying.
NASCAR officials says Gibbs team made unapproved adjustments during the course of repairing his car.
Joe Gibbs Racing made modifications that were not directly associated to the damage according to NASCAR.
