Just before his debut full-time season in the NASCAR Cup Series, Monster Energy announced last Friday that they would continue their support of 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series champion Ty Gibbs.
Tragedy struck for Ty Gibbs during Saturday’s Cup practice when his car caught up in flames while he was inside driving.
According to Davey Segal It seems the rocker box caught fire but Gibbs exited the car quickly and under his own power.
Gibbs was able to get the car stopped and climbed from the machine with no issues.
.@TyGibbs is on fire (literally) 🔥
It appears the rocker box caught fire but he exited the car quickly and under his own power. He's ok.
This was obviously a recurring issue last season, in addition to rubber build-up in the wheel wells.
