Having relied on multiple drivers last season, The Money Team Racing is now looking to consistently field one driver for their 2023 entries in the Cup Series.

In their debut season, TMT Racing fielded two drivers, Kaz Grala at the Daytona 500, Circuit of the Americas and Charlotte Motor Speedway. And for their fourth and last race, they fielded IndyCar Series driver Conor Daly.

However, for their second year, the team is looking for consistency in their driver lineup and is planning to field Daly for their increased schedule for the 2023 season.

In an interview with TobyChristie.com, team co-owner Willy Auchmoody said that the plan for the team is to run at least six races with Daly as the driver.

“We only ran one race with [Conor Daly] last year, obviously, but myself, the crew chief, our PR team, my family… he’s just a really awesome guy, like really awesome,” Auchmoody said. “We enjoyed every aspect of working with him.

There could be one exception at the Daytona 500 as the team is trying to field four-time Indy 50 champion, Helio Castroneves, for the race.

Auchmoody further added that Daly fits more in NASCAR than in IndyCar.

“I’ve always been a fan of Conor; I’ve always felt that he was a NASCAR driver living in an IndyCar world. It’s just his attitude, his demeanor,” Auchmoody said. “He’s – I don’t want to say a ‘bad boy’ in IndyCar, but he definitely doesn’t fit the mold over there as much as he fits the mold in NASCAR.”

Daly didn’t start off with TMT Racing with a great start, as he finished in 34th place in his lone start for the team last season. However, more opportunities and consistency in the driver lineup could work better for both the driver and the team.
