Kurt Busch is entering a very important point in his career as he left the comfort of Joe Gibbs Racing Richard Childress Racing.

Busch’s departure from JGR was a lengthy process with bitter words exchanged between them during that time. However, the two-time Cup Series champion has now finally left his team for a long time to start a new adventure with RCR.

Changing teams is always difficult and what makes it more difficult for Busch is that he had been with the team since 2008. Nonetheless, that’s the life of a Cup driver. While it might be hard, Busch is seeing a silver lining to his new move. Likening himself to the likes of Tom Brady and Peyton Manning from the NFL, Busch aims to continue winning for his new team.

“I’m kind of looking at it as the Tom Brady /Peyton Manning aspect where they left great teams, great organizations where they won championships, and they went on and were able to win championships somewhere else,” Busch said. “I’d like to think that I still have that opportunity to be able to do that with RCR.

“I look at the opportunity with the new Next Gen race car as an easier move to make now with that versus years past with previous generation cars. So I think it’s going to be… honestly, it could be a lateral move.”

Even after switching teams, Brady and Manning both kept winning. Manning won one Super Bowl with Seattle Seahawks after being released by Indianapolis Colts and Brady led Tampa Bay Buccaneers to Super Bowl LV win after leaving New England Patriots.

Busch will be aiming for his third Cup Series championship win. He is the only two drivers, along with Joey Logano, to have won multiple championships in the current NASCAR Cup Series drivers.
