Coy Gibbs, the father of Ty Gibbs and son of Joe Gibbs, died at 49.
Coy served as the COO/vice chairman of Joe Gibbs Racing. In fact, he was at the Phoenix Raceway last night watching his son Ty claim the NASCAR Xfinity Series title.
“It is with great sorrow that Joe Gibbs Racing confirms that Coy Gibbs (co-owner) went to be with the Lord in his sleep last night. The family appreciates all the thoughts and prayers and asks for privacy at this time”, read the statement from Joe Gibbs Racing.

Coy is survived by his wife, Heather, and their four kids.
Ty will not race in the NASCAR Cup Series season finale at Phoenix Raceway. He was replaced by Daniel Hemric in the No. 23 Toyota.
