23XI Racing driver Bubba Wallace refused to appear in an NBC interview to speak about his one-race suspension from Vegas.
Wallace was suspended because he retaliated against Kyle Larson, because of which both the cars were involved in a bad wreck. This didn’t calm Wallace down either as he approached Larson and shoved him continuously after that.
The move didn’t go well in the NASCAR community as many labelled it as dangerous and even life-threatening. And NASCAR took some criticism for the penalty which many believed to not be severe enough for the level of risk involved. One such person who thought that one-race suspension was not good enough is Kyle Petty, who said that suspension for the rest of the races this season would have been a fair penalty.
“He should have been suspended for the rest of the year. Rest of the year… First, you intentionally wreck somebody. That’s a suspension. He’s walking across the race track and cars are going by him on both sides. That’s not safe. That should be another suspension… That’s a physical confrontation. If I do that on the sidewalk, I’m in handcuffs somewhere,” Petty said.

With such harsh words from NBC”s Countdown to Green co-host Petty, Wallace refused to do an interview when NBC approached him for a zoom interview.

While Petty applauded Wallace for apologizing, he was also critical of Wallace’s silence regarding the incident.
“I applaud Bubba and I applaud 23XI for putting this out. But in a world, and I’m cynical — so let’s just go ahead and say that — in a world of social media where we post everything, silence sometimes says more than the words that are written and we have heard nothing from Bubba Wallace since this incident happened,”
“We have heard nothing publicly, until yesterday, Denny Hamlin finally spoke up, and kudos to Denny Hamlin for speaking up on behalf of 23XI. But the silence from that camp has been deafening,”.
Wallace missed the race at Homestead-Miami Speedway last weekend and will return for this weekend’s race at Martinsville Speedway.
Funny how everyone forgot except Dale Jr. how Noah Gragson retaliated in the race against Sage Karam and took out 11 cars. As Junior said, Gragson got a fine and points deduction. He was surprised at suspension.
