While the details are not disclosed yet, it is confirmed that NASCAR will make a major announcement on Sunday, October 2, 2022, at 12:15 PM ET. The announcement is set to take place before the Cup Series race at Talladega Superspeedway.
While there are a lot of rumours as to the nature of the announcement, the likely case will include the involvement of NASCAR and the USAC.25 Series. The news has been reported as “the greatest leap for the quarter midget sport in history.”
“Refuses to accept responsibility for drivers getting hurt” – Denny Hamlin calls out NASCAR for Next-Gen safety issues
USAC.25 Series is a series involving kids aged five to 16 years where they compete in quarter-midget clubs nationwide. Launched in 2008, the size of the cars used in the series will be one-fourth the size of the midget car.
Another likely guess for the announcement includes the event to be held alongside NASCAR events. Or it could also mean that NASCAR is intending to buy the racing series. And if it intends to do so, it won’t be the first time that NASCAR brought a racing series at Talladega Superspeedway. NASCAR’s previous purchase at Talladega include the buying of the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) Series on April 27, 2018.
While there are not many details out yet, the small amount of information out there says that it will be a “new era” for every quarter-midget racer nationwide.
Some of the famous NASCAR drivers to have participated in quarter-midget cars include Jeff Gordon, Joey Logano, Alex Bowman and Harrison Burton.
Every time NASCAR buys a series, they screw it up. Hopefully, this won’t be the case.
