NASCAR issued two penalties on Tuesday for rough driving, docking both William Byron and Ty Gibbs for their roles in different incidents in Sunday’s Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway.
Hendrick Motorsports No.24 driver William Byron was fined $50,000 and docked 25 points for spinning Denny Hamlin under caution at Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday.
Byron was third in the Cup Playoffs standings with a 17-point cushion above the elimination line before the penalty, however he’s now 10th out of the 12 remaining playoffs-eligible drivers and eight points below the provisional elimination line.

Ty Gibbs got fined $75,000 by nascar and his team loses 25 owner points for door-slamming Ty Dillon on pit road.
Gibb’s aggressive contact came close t hurting pit-crew personnel and NASCAR officials working in a nearby pit stall.
NASCAR also punished the 23XI stand-in Cup Series rookie 25 Cup driver points and docked 23XI Racing 25 car owner points for the No. 23 Cup car that Gibbs drives.
