North Wilkesboro Speedway is set to host the 2023 NASCAR All-Star Race, according to multiple reliable reports.

Earlier this year summer, the NWS brought back races for the first time in over a decade, a massive boost to the area that helped build Nascar.

The North Wilkesboro Speedway is one of the first NASCAR tracks and was home to two Winston Cup Series races several decades ago.

NWS has a remarkably special connection with Dale Earnhardt Jr., who made a test run in June, but it was his first at the track since 1995.

“It’s a special place. I never thought I’d get a chance to race around here again. To put this program together with Sun Drop, who sponsored my late model in ’93, I wouldn’t want it any other way. They were with my dad for years and one of my first sponsors. Seeing the Sun Drop Chevy at Wilkesboro again will bring back some great memories for me.”

In August a large crowd gathered to catch a glimpse of Dale Earnhardt Jr. compete in the CARS Tour Late Model Stock race in what was a celebrated, much-anticipated event for the western North Carolina community. North Wilkesboro hosted a Racetrack Revival event on Aug. 2-3.

Adam Stern and Jim Utter have both reported that the NASCAR All-Star Race will head back to North Carolina in 2023

The NASCAR community was quick to praise Earnhardt Jr. for the role he played in getting Cup Series racing back at North Wilkesboro Speedway.

  1. Dale Jr is so humble, I don’t think he will ever take credit for all he does/has done for NASCAR over the years. And I am sure he isn’t done…only time will tell. Love to listen to his program.
