Frustrated Chase Elliott refused mandatory visit to the care center after crashing out at Darlington

A multi-car wreck just before the end of the first stage at Darlington Raceway, sent Chase Elliott head home early after he was wrecked out.

The incident transpired when Chase Elliott – the got loose and lost control of his car on Lap 113 of the 367-lap in the playoff opener which collected Chase Briscoe.

Hendrick Motorsports team tried to repair the car however, the damage was too bad on Elliott’s No.9 car and he was done for the race.

Elliott was apparently bitter over what had transpired and even rejected NASCAR mandatory rule to visit the care center.

He did showed up as it is mandatory for any MASCAF driver out on DVP to visit the care center for further evaluation. 

“Hit the wall there in Turn 2 and broke something in the right rear,” Elliott said following his exit from the infield care center.

Asked what he’ll have to do the rest of the first round to advance, Elliott said: “Run better than we did today.”

The regular-season champion and a winner Elliott will most likely will lose the points lead after crashing out Sunday.

Elliott was relegated to a last-place finish, 36th, in the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series Playoff Opener at Darlington Raceway.
