Kurt Busch will be out for the remainder of the regular season following a qualifying crash at Pocono Raceway that left him with concussion-like symptoms.
The 44-year-old has a waiver to hold his spot in NASCAR Cup Series playoff field should he qualify.
The 23XI Racing driver released the following statement on Thursday, updating his recovery.
“As much as I want to be back in the car, the time is still not right,” Busch said in a statement. “Over the last few weeks, I have focused all my efforts on getting better. And in order to fully focus my recovery on trying to be back for the playoffs, I will not be competing in the next two races at Watkins Glen and Daytona.” said KuBusch
“This decision was not an easy one, but the right one,” Busch’s statement continued. “I need to be racing at 100%. I know Ty will continue to do a great job in my absence, and I appreciate the competitiveness he’s brought to the track.” – he added

Ty Gibbs will keep on driving in place of Kurt Busch at Watkins Glen and Daytona as Busch recovers from a brain injury.

Busch has fewest points among those with 1 win so if there is 17 winners he’ll probably be out of the playoffs.
