Sunday’s FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway, saw Kyle Larson’s team (HMS) suggested that he might contemplate working with his Chevy teammate Ross Chastain after being outnumbered while racing up front against numerous Toyotas.
The Hendrick Motorsports No.5 driver rebuffed such idea.
A few laps before the midway point in Stage 2 at Michigan, Chastain held the lead at the time with Kyle Larson just behind him.

Both Chevrolet rides were being chased by three Toyotas when Larson’s spotter Cliff Daniels had a suggestion that he and Ross Chastain work together in order to push each other further out from the rest of the field.
“Huh. Ross doesn’t work together with anybody.” – said Kyle Larson
“I mean, I get it, but it may help us both get away from those guys and then we can battle it out later,” Larson’s crew chief Cliff Daniels added.
Ross Chastain’s spotter Brandon McReynolds also agrees on the plan to team up with Larson.
“Ross says he’ll leave you a lane if you just push him on the straightaway.” said Brandon Reynolds.
