Bubba Wallace became the first ever African American in 60 years to win a Cup Series pole heading into Michigan.

Wallace started on the pole after dominating the qualifying for the FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday.

Bubba left Michigan frustrated after he come up short to race winner Kevin Harvick snapping a nearly two-year winless streak in the Cup Series.

“It sucks, we got flat wiped out by the No. 23” – Chris Buescher blames Bubba Wallace for destroying his day in the Verizon 200 at Brickyard

The 28-year-old showed emotions following a runner-up finish at Michigan during his post race interview shedding tears.

“Sorry I f***ing failed y’all. Absolute f***ing failure.” said Bubba Wallace.

The 23Xi Team instantly told Wallace to stop talking like that, he did nothing wrong and turned in a great performance according to Jordan Bianchi Motorsports reporter for The Athletic.

Wallace finished second in his No. 23 Toyota, approximately 2.9 seconds behind Kevin Harvick followed by Denny Hamlin in his No. 11 Toyota.

“I want to win so bad, and this was the best opportunity.” –  He added.
