Hendrick Motorsports driver Chase Elliott has been among the most consistent top-performing Cup Series drivers of the 2022 season his dominance shows as he currently tops the championshipstandings.
Chase Elliott showed his dissatisfaction with acP2 finish at New Hampshire Motor Speedway saying ‘poor execution’ cost him a win in the end.
Elliott conceded that he had to do a better job once again as unluckily, the race end the same way it did for the HMS driver two weekends ago at Road America.
“I don’t want Ross to change” – Dale Earnhardt Jr. candidly defends Ross Chastain’s driving style
“Just do a better job again, same conversation as Road America, unfortunately. Chase Elliott said.I felt like just a poor run of execution on my end throughout that last run. I feel like it took me a while to get past Joey and the 45 and had to run a little harder than I wanted to and then got in front of those guys and just made a couple of mistakes and couldn’t get much breathing room,”
He pointed out that he had a poor run of execution on his end throughout the final lap and that he might have gone a little too harder on his car when he ran to pass both Joey Logano and Kurt Busch for the lead.
“when you’re in a position like we’ve been in, you need to finish them off. Elliott explained. The top two don’t tell the whole story. Sometimes you’ve got to step back and look at the reality of it, and the reality is I’ve given away a couple of races just by making too many mistakes. You don’t want to have that. Try to clean it up for these final events,”
Elliott criticized himself for the No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports team not ending the day in victory lane but congratulated C.Bell on his win.
“Christopher did a good job. Congrats to those guys. I know they’ve stayed close to winning, so that’s cool. But obviously, for us, we were in a position where guys at this level really should close out a race if you’ve got the lead like that. Just a poor effort on my part,” said Chase Elliott.
If not for a few o mistakes on Elliott part in the last laps he would have surely had a shot at winning the race.
