Last year, Joe Gibbs Racing driver Martin Truex Jr. openly admitted that his NASCAR future could be dependent on the newly introduce Next Gen car.

Following Practice for the WWT Raceway 200 Presented By CK Power Martin Truex Jr. said he thinks daily about whether he will race next year. Truex Jr. said within a couple of weeks, he should have an answer.

Truex signed a contract extension to remain with Joe Gibbs Racing through the 2022 season back before the 2021 season started.

it’s a big decision and uh you know a lot of factors so i would say that you know within a couple weeks you guys will know what i’m doing

In the past Truex has been clear that he doesn’t have to continue competing and he does so because purely enjoys racing and is competitive. So before making a decision on 2023, The 41-y-o wanted to get a good amount of experience in the Gen 7 car.

Few months ago at COTA Martin Truex Jr. admitted that his future in racing is now uncertain.He did not went into much detail however did acknowledged a decision will need to be made soon.
