NASCAR legend Red Farmer hospitalized battling double pneumonia

NASCAR Racing legend Red Farmer was selected as a member of the 2021 NASCAR Hall of Fame class earlier this year alongside former drivers Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Mike Stefanik.

The 89-y-o rose up the ranks as part of the “Alabama Gang” alongside Bobby Allison & Donnie Allison.

A family friend of Farmer’s, Elisa Allison Sproule told Mike Dubberly of WBRC that Red is currently in the hospital battling double pneumonia.

Farmer who won four championships during his career revealed in 2020 that he almost died from COVID-19.

“The doctors at Grandview (Medical Center) told me if I went in a day later, I may not have made it,” Farmer told WVTM. “Those doctors and nurses saved my life.” He said

Red Farmer competed in the Cup Series from 1953 to 1975.
