Kansas was the latest substandard of recurring pit stops for 23XI Bubba Wallace leading to a 10th place finish that could have been better.
Poor pit stops seems to be a the norm taking into considering how often it has happened to the 23XI Racing driver this season.
Bubba Wallace had a pretty good chance of winning the race. Bubba had a fast car; he was running well, however he was let down by his 23Xi crew while teammate Kurt Busch won the race his first for the Michael Jordan co owned team.
“I still blame him” – Kyle Busch still “pissed off” about William Byron’s action from the past
Following the race Denny Hamlin openly admits that they (23XI) crew have let down their own driver and Bubba Wallace has all the right to be “frustrated.” with them.
“Listen, I passed #45 pretty early, easily in traffic, but I couldn’t pass the #23. He was really, really fast, I mean extremely fast. The results don’t show it, but like I said, as a team, we’re letting him down right now,” the Joe Gibbs Racing driver said in a post-race interview.
When questioned what could be done to fix the problem, he hinted that the issues will be dealt with “internally”. “We gotta work through some issues on pit road certainly,” he emphasized.
“I think we have to figure out how to manage races. And you don’t always have to have ‘Hail Mary’ stops in my opinion, sometimes you gotta run the ball and have a solid stop with no mistakes to keep you in the game,” Hamlin added.
Wallace had a solid performance, too. The 28/y-o finished in 10th place, earning him 32 playoffs points.
“Just trying to figure out what I did to piss off the racing gods. Another great car and another great finish that was going to be there and a disappointing result. Just frustrating,” he had said.
