Trackhouse Racing driver Ross Chastain got his first ever NASCAR Cup victory on Sunday after Chastain forced and fought his way around AJ Allmendinger in the final lap of overtime at COTA.

Ross Chastain got into a tangled with former teammate AJ Allmendinger to bag his first win in 121 Cup Series starts.

The late race move by Chastain was a move that everyone had different opinions on including Joe Gibbs Racing Denny Hamlin who was critical of the race winner.

Denny Hamlin took to Twitter and tweeted what he thought of Ross Chastain late move to win the race.

In 2017 it wasn’t ok. In todays world. “High stakes” “do whatever it takes” “playoffs on the line” blah blah, it’s all fair game. The game has changed and it’s just expected now,” Hamlin tweeted.

Everyone runs over everyone. Doesn’t matter if it’s for 1st or 10th Congrats to @JustinMarksTH & Ross.”

Ross Chastain justified his aggressive last-lap moves against A.J Allmendinger post race as what is required to be victorious in the Cup Series.

“AJ is so good, I’ve learned so much from him, and it’s like ‘How do you beat the guy? He taught me so much!'” Chastain said. “I feel bad about AJ. I mean, he’s gonna be upset with me but we raced hard and he owes me one.”

“At the end of the day, we all have to look ourselves in the mirror. If you are OK with it, you’re OK with it. Each person is different,” he said of how Chastain raced him.

“I was doing everything I could do to try to sweep the weekend. We were that close. We know we had a shot to win the race.”

Out of the first six Cup races three have been won by a driver securing their ever first career win, Austin Cindric, Chase Briscoe and now Ross Chastain.

  1. Poor Hamlin!!! Will he ever accept that he just doesn’t have it anymore. Every week he and Bubba are griping bout something. Both need to move on to something they can do.

    1. If crybaby hamlin watches the replay he will see that aj moved chastine a couple of turns before chastine moved him for the win and ask any of the drivers what they would do and most of them would say they woulda did the same thing someone send denny and bubba a box of crying towels please

  2. Hamlin has become the cry baby of nascar, just look back the last few years how times has he put has bumper to some one to win.
