Kyle Busch said that he is “not ready” to discuss his future with Joe Gibbs Racing beyond the 2022 Cup Series season.
Since joining Joe Gibbs Racing in 2008, one thing has remained consistent for Busch and the team, their primary sponsor, M&M’s. However, this is going to change as they have decided to part with the No. 18 Toyota and even NASCAR after the end of the 2022 season.
The thing about sponsorship is that it determines the future of the driver directly or indirectly. So, with the primary sponsor gone, it is obvious that there will be questions regarding Busch’s future with JGR. But when asked about it, Busch said that the time is not right for such discussion. However, he added that he would love to continue with JGR.
“It would be nice to just have all the discussions out the window and have us ready to have something to announce,” Busch said. “We’re very early in that game, so we’re not ready for that. Obviously, I’m good where I’m at, would love to stay, and hopefully all that works out.”
But it is highly unlikely that JGR will let go of their veteran driver who won them two championships and still is in the prime years of his racing career. We still have a long year to go, with Busch challenging for his third championship.
