There is an ongoing conflict between NASCAR and Brandonbilt Motorsports regarding the sponsorship for Brandon Brown for the 2022 season.
It was confirmed from Brown and the sponsor LGBcoin.io, a cryptocurrency company’s side that they will be the primary sponsor for his team. Brandonbilt Motorsports even said that they received the ‘go-ahead’ from NASCAR but NASCAR has clarified that the team hasn’t got any approval for such a deal.
The cryptocurrency plays off on the popular “Let’s Go Brandon” chant. The catchphrase became popular in right-wing political circles. While Brown has made it clear that he is not responsible for the chant and does not associate himself with it, he seems to be sponsored by an organization that plays on the chant.
However, before the sponsorship is finalized, it has to go through several approval processes from NASCAR. The team even announced their deal with LGBcoin sponsorship, and Brandonbilt Motorsports asserted that they have received the approval from the NASCAR sanctioning body but NASAR is now denying such claims.
It can take multiple weeks to get the sponsorship approved, and Brandonbilt Motorsports might have rushed to make the decision too early. The fact that the catchphrase is politically related may not help the decision either as NASCAR doesn’t want to associate itself to any political ideologies.
