The 2021 Cup Series champion Kyle Larson is of the opinion that F1 is still a level above NASCAR in many ways.
The Hendrick Motorsports No. 5 driver attended the 2021 F1 season finale at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. And from not just what he was there, but in general Larson says that he is a big fan of F1 Racing.
“It’s just so different. Formula 1 is so worldly known. But I’ve got massive amounts of respect for all these drivers. Especially Lewis and Max for the performances they’ve put on this year and the battle that they’ve had. I’m getting to meet a lot of people. I don’t know if anybody knows who I am here, but it’s been cool.”
NASCAR decides for a more common aero package for Next Gen
Unlike NASCAR which is mostly centred in the USA, F1 is more global, with drivers from many parts of the world and the racing also takes place in different locations around the world. And as Larson said, he would be just another guy there watching the race, even though he is the championship-winning driver of 2021 in NASCAR.
In this regard, Larson thinks that F1 is level above NASCAR and he spoke of his desire to attend such fame in the future.
“I feel we’re still a step below even though I had a great couple of seasons now. These guys are on a whole other level of stardom and fame, I’m in awe of being here. I’m a fanboy today and hopefully someday I can climb the ladder and keep getting more well-known.”
While the fame of F1 racing may be above NASCAR, but in terms of sheer racing, Larson is one of the best drivers out there in 2021. After all, he won 10 races en route to the championship win.
