It seems the Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan-owned 23XI Racing have finally found the charter for their new Cup Series entry.

The team had already signed Kurt Busch for the 2022 season but did so without obtaining a charter. After months of searching for a charter for their new entry, 23XI Racing might have finally found it but it has come at the cost of another Cup team missing out on the charter.

It was widely rumored that Spire Motorsports would acquire the charter of StarCom Racing that announced their departure from the Cup Series. However, it seems that they might have missed out on the purchase for unknown reasons.

23XI Racing had to go around a lot of places to find their charter. It was reported that they were looking to acquire the charter of Rick Ware Racing and Front Row Motorsports but none of the deal materialized.

But they have finally found the charter which will make them a two-car team for the 2022 season.

Having just formed a year ago, 23XI Racing with Bubba Wallace as the sole driver had mixed results. Wallace couldn’t qualify for the playoffs and struggled to give top performances but on the positive note, he earned his and the team’s first Cup victory.

With a veteran in Kurt Busch signed for the team, the team will be looking to build upon their first year next season.
