Chase Elliott might find himself missing out on a spot for the Championship 4 race in the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season.

The 2020 Cup Champion has had a decent so far this season with two wins this season. However, he is yet to hit top gear in the playoffs with no wins and decent performances.

“He should figure out how to take the same car and run as fast as the 5” – Harvick continues verbal feud with Elliott

After his seventh-place finish at Texas Motor Speedway, Elliott is outside the cutline for the final race, eight points behind Kyle Busch. While there are still two races left, Bob Pockrass is of the opinion that the defending champion will find it hard to qualify for the final race of the 2021 Cup season. He said:

“He is eight points behind Kyle Busch, nine points behind Denny Hamlin. 17 points behind Ryan Blaney. Can he catch any of them? He was 5th at Kansas earlier this year, 2nd at Martinsville. Those stats say ‘Yes he can’, but is he running well enough?”

“I was hoping to see more out of him at Texas. Granted, they had the tyre issues, but they were able to rally. However, we never really got to see just how good Chase Elliott is right now. I think it’s going to be tough.”

In contrast, Elliott’s HMS teammate Kyle Larson has already qualified for the Championship 4 race with a win at Texas. Not only that, the No. 5 driver has won in each of the previous playoffs rounds.

Is Joe Gibbs Racing going to lose a car for the 2022 season?
