Wallace came out as the winner of the rain-shortened race at Talladega Superspeedway. It is a victory that he has been waiting for a long time. Still fresh from the win, he spoke to CBS Mornings about winning in the home soil and the importance of the win to him and his team, 23XI Racing.

During the conversation, he also revealed the conversation that he had with his fiancee before the race.

“We had a good feeling, going into it. Amanda, my fiancee, and I, we called it on Friday. Reminded me of the feeling that I had back in 2013, when I won my first Truck race. Just knew we were going to win this race. There were times, where I was like, ‘Man! This isn’t the feeling that I had’. However, it came at the right time. You never question it, always stay true to it, and it works out.”

While it was not a traditional win in terms of winning the race after completing the scheduled laps, nonetheless a win is a win and it will be a big boost of confidence for Wallace in his future races, especially after the regular season disappointments.

Having had high expectations before the season began, Wallace can take this win and build up for further success at 23XI Racing.
