Harvick blames Elliott’s temper tantrum for costing him the win at Bristol

Kevin Harvick and Chase Elliott were involved in a bitter feud for their on-race incident in the Cup Series playoffs at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Harvick took the lead from Elliott On Lap 465 of 500. But during this change in the lead, the two drivers came in contact with each other which resulted in Elliott having a flat left-front tire.

But when Elliott entered the race again, coincidentally it was ahead of Harvick with a lap down. With just five laps to go, Harvick couldn’t get ahead of Elliott and rather Kyle Larson, who was running in second, closed the gap to Harvick and passed Elliott for the win.

Kevin Harvick and Chase Elliott in bitter feud at Bristol – God damn, I’m ready to rip someone’s freaking head off right now,”

Harvick confronted Elliott after the race and the two drivers shoved each other after exchanging words. When asked about what he said to Elliott, Harvick said:

“I told him it was kind of a chicken (expletive) move that he did there at the end. We’re racing for the frickin win at Bristol. We’re three-wide in the middle and he throws a temper tantrum, like I was just trying to get the lead and race him hard.

“Then he pulls up in front of me and just sits there until I lose the whole lead, so I just hate it for our team to be able to lose a race like that. I watched him let (William Byron) go by and then anytime you run into him, it’s a problem.”

Elliott had his say on the incident too.

“It’s something he does all the time. He runs into your left side constantly at other tracks. Sometimes it does cut down your left side, other times it doesn’t. Did it to me in Darlington a few weeks ago because he was tired of racing me.

“Whether he did it on purpose doesn’t matter. At some point, you have to draw a line. I don’t care who he is or how long he’s been doing it, I’m going to stand up for myself and my team and we’re going down the road.”

Harvick who is still looking for his first win of the 2021 season was denied his victory which would have comfortably taken him to the next rounds. But he still managed to become the last driver to go to the next round.

“I don’t feel like you reinvent the wheel” – Elliott trusting his ability to put a good fight in each round of the playoffs
