Truex Jr. in the next round
Truex Jr. achieved his third victory in the last five races held in Richmond. The aforementioned driver celebrated his victory in the Nascar Cup Series for the fourth time. This is his 31st career victory. He earned a penalty at the very start of the race, but in the end, he still won. “That was frustrating, I’m not going to lie,” said Truex Jr.
Proud of everyone on our @BassProShops team! Tonight certainly wasnt easy, but we did what we had to do and we’re on to the next round! #TeamToyota pic.twitter.com/KSIufC2BL5

With this triumph, Truex Jr. joined by Denny Hamlin and Kyle Larson who advanced to the next round starting in Las Vegas in two weeks.
Unlike the previous race held in Darlington last weekend, there were no major incidents in Richmond and all drivers aiming for a high ranking were at the top. Denny Hamlin, who finally won last weekend after a long break, was second in this race. Hamlin was the fastest in two stages and he can certainly be over satisfied with the last two racing weekends. He regrets that he did not win this weekend as well.
“The whole JGR team had fast cars for all of us today. I really wish we had gotten two in a row, but regardless still a great day for the team”.
Last season’s champion Chase Elliot took fourth place. Joey Logano was fifth while Larson finished sixth at the end of the race.
Truex Jr. won despite penalty
Truex Jr was disappointed with the penalty at the beginning of the race, but he believed that since he had a great car, he could return to the fight for the top.
“But I knew we had a good enough car to overcome it. Just one of those things you have to put out of your mind and go race. A lot on the line tonight. But going to Bristol next week without any worries is always fun,”
