After winning his first Championship last season, Chase Elliott will be looking to make a consecutive win this season.
Throughout the season, Kevin Harvick and Denny Hamlin dominated the choice for the driver to win the championship. After all, Harvick won nine races and Hamlin seven. But the underdog to make the championship 4, Elliott went on to win his first championship at the age of 24, thus becoming the third-youngest champion in NASCAR Cup history.
“We have a shot to win anywhere right now” – Kyle Larson confident about his championship chances
While he had a good regular season, he was at his best in the playoffs, winning three of the final five races. Will he be able to carry out the same feat this season. Elliott said:
“You got to get there first. It’s not like you can just pick and choose when to be really good. If that was the case, we would pick and choose to be good all the time. It [his title run] was a product of good timing, good people and a lot of hard work. We’ve always had good people and everyone is always working hard.”
Elliott had a good regular season this year too with two wins and 11 top-five finishes. He is seeded as the fifth driver with 2021 points.
Will he peak again in the playoffs this season?
