Ryan Blaney’s win at Michigan International Speedway came in large part due to big help from Kyle Busch.
Blaney got his second win of the 2021 Cup Series season. It is the first time that the No. 12 Ford Mustang driver for Team Penske has registered more than one win in the Cup Series season.

The win was made possible due to a great push from Kyle Busch, which Blaney acknowledged after the race.
“Got a great push by the #18 on the restart. Was able to get clear there. Michigan’s a matter of pretty much running wide open and just trying to play the air game. I hate that you have to race that way, but that’s how you have to run. We weren’t great to start the day off, but we kept working and working.”
Blaney also expressed surprise at winning the race and that he didn’t imagine in his wildest dreams that he would win the race. The fact that Kyle Larson didn’t want to approach a riskier strategy to go for the win helped Blaney’s cause.

The win will be a big boost for Blaney for his chances to go deep into the playoffs. He currently sits in seventh place in the Cup Series standings. He will be looking to solidify his position as NASCAR heads to the final race of the regular-season at Daytona International Speedway.
