Joey Logano said that if it were up to him, he would get rid of the Turns 5 and 6 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course.
After the inaugural race, many drivers were not happy with the track’s kerbs. There were many complaints from the drivers after the race. Due to the kerbs, many drivers raced over it and it every triggered a multi-car crash with six laps to go in the race.
Despite Hamlin failing to win the Indy Road Course, it was good in the end for him for this reason
Logano was very vocal in his criticism too and ured the officials to get rid of the kerbs in turns 5 and 6.
“If you ask my opinion, just take it out. Just get rid of it in general. Turns 5 and 6 don’t need to be there and here’s why. You can’t go too wide on that section anyway, or not really effectively. If you go too wide, the third placed guys will blow your doors off through Turn 7 because you have no momentum. You’ve got to go single-file through there with any speed.”
The victims of the kerbs include William Byron, Kyle Busch, Daniel Suarez, Martin Truex Jr, among many others. Some couldn’t finish the race while some limped to the finish line.
Logano was of the opinion that the kerbs didn’t lead to better racing or slowed down cars but only created only problems in the race.
