As per the recent reports, the Road America race track is set to be repaved. While there are no official announcements yet from the track authorities, the process is set to take place after this season.
It is not necessarily a nice thing for the drivers for a track to be repaved. Fresh asphalt could make the racing less exciting as the grip it provides tends to equalize cars in the corners and limit the ability to pass. However, as it is a road course, the problem might be mitigated.
Christopher Bell “not willing to talk” to Kyle Larson after their clash at Watkins Glen
Kyle Larson gave his verdict on the track. He said:
“It’s intense. All the braking zones are rough, the track is like 1½ car lengths wide, it seems, so there’s not really room for mistakes, like (the Circuit of the Americas has) tons of room for mistakes, runoff areas, Sonoma less but still a lot more than here.”
Larson has established himself as a very proficient road course drier. He recently won the race at the Watkins Glen International circuit, taking his tally to five wins in the 2021 Cup Series season. He also leads the Cup Series standings.
