Stewart-Haas Racing Owner Tony Stewart has a reputation as someone who says whatever on his mind. Last week the three-time NASCAR champion did just that in an interview where he spoke about the SHR team’s woes in the 2021 Cup Series season.
The SHR team has been performing below par this year. However, team owner Tony Stewart will be the first one to admit that.

Tony Stewart calls out certain NASCAR teams during an interview with Fox NASCAR reporter Bob Pockrass.
“We’re all competitive, and we all want to be on top of our game all the time. The ones that are complacent and are OK knowing that it is just a wave, those are the teams that we’ll kick their a** every week.”
“It always sucks,” Stewart said bluntly. “Everything comes in waves and cycles. … It doesn’t make you feel any better knowing you’re in a wave like that.

Rodney Childers, Kevin Harvick crew chief, argued earlier that the change in rules has affected the team’s performance. Also. he believes that Harvick’s has had a top-five car at most races but feels that it is not good enough.
Aric Almirola is the only Stewart-Haas driver assured of making the playoffs, Almirola finally got a win in New Hampshire before the two-week Olympic break.
“I’m not sure if there was anything in particular necessarily that was there – they just hit the setup that day,” Stewart said. “The hard part with no practice, it is a roll of the dice to try to get that. Hopefully, that was something we can use for all four cars on the flatter tracks. … Those are places that we have really struggled.”
