Hendrick Motorsports VP of competition, Chad Knaus, believes that Chase Elliott doesn’t get enough credit for road course abilities.
Elliott has proved to be a driver of versatility but when it comes to road courses he is a different beast. He is the best road course driver in the current crop and at the end of his career, he might as well turn out to be one of the best road course drivers in the history of NASCAR. He has already won at t Watkins Glen and the Charlotte Roval, Road America and the Circuit of the Americas.

While Elliott has shown his capability to win races in the road courses, Knaus believes that the 2020 Cup champion isn’t given enough praise for his abilities. He said:
“Chase, I don’t think, gets enough credit for what he does, personally, on the road courses.
“Everyone at HMS has done a really good job preparing these race cars.
“Chase [Elliott] is very methodical and he thinks things through. You can actually just duplicate it, time after time after time. He’s very Jimmie Johnson-esque in that standpoint.”
Elliott has two races this season and both of them came at road courses, at the Circuit of the Americas and the Road America.
