New Hampshire Motor Speedway officials will not add the PJ1 traction compound to the racing surface before this weekend’s racing, a FoxSports NASCAR reporter confirmed on Friday evening.
NASCAR has changed its mind and will not apply any traction compound this weekend at New Hampshire. Didn’t want Cup race to be the first event on the PJ1.

Racing gets underway Saturday, with NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour (NWMT) practice & qualifying, followed by the Whelen 100 NWMT race at 12:45 p.m. The Ambetter Get Vaccinated 200 NASCAR Xfinity Series is scheduled for 3 p.m.
Sunday’s big event belongs to the NASCAR Cup Series drivers and the Foxwoods Resort Casino 301, which is set begin at 3 p.m.
