With NASCAR adopting new innovations in recent time, could it lead to NASCAR introducing a new racing series in the future?
Since the 2021 season, the sport has seen a host of new teams, new drivers, new tracks and new owners. This season has seen the addition of multiple road course races.
Trackhouse Racing Team and 23XI Racing made their way into NASCAR while Germain Racing and Leavine Family Racing had to go out of the sport. Additionally, the Next Gen series will make its debut next season.

However, there could be big innovations on the cards. As per Sports Business Journal‘s Adam Stern, NASCAR is “exploring the concept of starting an all-electric companion series.”

As explained in the tweet, the series would serve as a companion series and not a replacement for the Cup Series.
Back in February, NASCAR President Steve Phelps said that while NASCAR isn’t actively exploring such a project, it is interested in an “exhibition series”.
Starting the series in 2022 is out of the question as it would be impossible to develop new cars and test them within the time frame. But with the exploring underway, we might witness a new series in the near future.
