Chase Briscoe explains the difference in an ARCA to a Cup Series Car

Having driven at the Sonoma Raceway for both ARCA West and Cup Series race, Chase Briscoe pointed out the difference he felt with the cars.

Briscoe decided to race for the ARCA West so as to gain experience for his Cup Series race on the same track. Not only did he gain experience, but the Stewart-Haas Racing driver also won the race.

However, the experience in the ARCA West could only help the Cup rookie to a 17th place finish at Sonoma Raceway in the Cup Series. Nevertheless, he now knows the difference in the cars in the two levels of the sport. While he feels that everything is about the same, the SHR driver found a difference in the shifts. HE said:

“The Cup car is pretty much 2nd and 3rd and maybe a couple of corners in 1st. I know in the ARCA car on the front straightaway, we go into 4th. Other than that, I felt like it was about the same. There’s probably four more shifts, but I don’t think its anything way different.”

The transition for Briscoe from the Xfinity to the Cup Series hasn’t gone in a spectacular fashion. Although he came to the Cup Series on the back of nine Xfinity race wins last season, he is struggling to make his mark on his debut season.

But since it’s his first season in the Series, it will be a very important learning lesson for Briscoe to build upon for the future.
