Chase Elliott will start at the the rear of the field for Sunday Cup Series race at Darlington due to unapproved adjustments to his No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports ride. No. 10 Aric Almirola will join Elliott at the back after his Stewart-Haas Racing Ford failed pre-race inspection twice.

On Elliott car, they realized they had left a packer in the car that they had failed to remove. So removing that after tech is an unapproved adjustment.

Both drivers were starting places were determined in part by their finishes last weekend at Kansas Speedway and where they rank in the NASCAR Cup Series.
