After a disappointment at Kansas despite dominating the race, Kyle Larson is looking to make amends at Darlington Raceway.
Larson led the race-high number of laps. But a bad decision in the last restart cost him the race at Kansas. But, going to Darlington for Sunday’s Goodyear 400 race, the Hendrick Motorsports driver is confident of his chances there.
“I love Darlington. It’s been a great track for me in the past,“ said Larson. “We have a really good package for worn-out tracks like that, so I hope that we are really good there.
“I think, grip-level-wise, it’s pretty similar to Atlanta, and we were really good there this year in the No. 5. You just have to take care of your stuff and not get into the wall.”
This is pretty cool, thank you to everyone involved for making this happen #NASCARThrowback https://t.co/7XQ5jqQeHZ

What makes this track special for the upcoming race for Larson is that he will be using a paint scheme that pays homage to the start of his racing career. It is a throwback to Larson’s first go-kart race.
“Hopefully, our car is good enough and I don’t have to rely on running the top, which has been the strong suit for me there in the past.
“I could run a unique line that was much safer and all that. (I’m) getting excited about this upcoming race.”
Larson has three Top 5 finishes in the last 4 races that he has raced at Darlington. This could be the perfect opportunity for the No.5 HMS driver to get his second win of the season.
