Home town boy Chase Elliott will be relegated to a poor finish at Atlanta Motor Speedways after a engine issue at the start of the race’s final stage has taken him out of contention for the win in Sunday’s Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500.

It was already a bad day for the Hendrick Motorsports star, after multiple inspection failures forced his No. 9 NAPA Auto Parts Chevrolet Camaro ride to begin at the rear of the field.

Elliott did however stated that it might be contact made from Kyle and Kurt Busch which have caused his day to end early.

Crew chief explains Kevin Harvick’s slow start to the 2021 season

Chase Said: “i was pushing him (Kyle) and Kurt was pushing me and we all just jammed together hard which ended up hurting the nose”

Chase Elliott will earn his first finish outside the top-35 in the NASCAR Cup Series since last year at Dover.
