NASCAR Cup Series 2020 champion Chase Elliott faces a massive responsibility of defending his crown when the new season kicks off However, the NO. #9 driver will have a massive target painted on his back for the 2021 season.
Elliott Recently spoke about heading into the new season as a champion.
“The really cool part about winning a championship. Then being able to come back into the season as the defending champions is, I know that we’re not at our peak. I just feel like there are areas where we can do better, so just knowing that there’s still more for us to go get amongst ourselves excites me.
“I feel good about that,” he said.
Clearly, he is pointing out the fact that in the new season, All drivers will starting from scratch. Chase himself is part of that equation, as very few past champions have successfully defended their titles.

Elliott has to focus on getting through the 2021 campaign. Then can he think about the standings and where he features in the championship battle. The #9 driver is definitely a favorite for the 2021 title.
