Set to drive for the Michael Jordan owned 23XI Racing team, Bubba Wallace is looking forward to meeting the NBA legend in person.

The 23XI Racing team will make its Cup Series debut in the upcoming 2021 Cup Series season. The Michael Jordan-Denny Hamlin partnered team have Wallace as the driver of their No. 23 Toyota.

While it has been months since the announcement of the team and the driver, Wallace has not yet met his team owner and has only had a phone conversation with him.

With NASCAR 2021 season’s opening race, Daytona 500 on February 14th, coming soon, there are plans for Jordan to be present at the race. The former Richard Petty Motorsports driver is looking forward to the moment of meeting Jordan in person. Wallace recently said:

“We’re trying to arrange for him to be at the (Daytona) 500. So it will be cool to get to finally shake his hand and say ‘hello’.

“I haven’t met him yet. We’ve shared conversations over the phone. That’s been really cool too.”

The Daytona 500 is one of the most prestigious races in a NASCAR season and Jordan’s presence will surely fit the occasion. Given that the idea is to make the team a “household name” in the industry, Jordan’s off-field support can help with the goal.
