23XI Racing driver Bubba Wallace said that his mentality changed after watching Michael Jordan’s ‘The Last Dance’.
The Last Dance has inspired a host of athletes and common people and one of the people to take inspiration from the documentary is Wallace.
In fact, the former Richard Petty Motorsports will be driving for Jordan’s owned team, 23XI Racing, which is set to debut in the Cup Series in the 2021 season. Speaking about Jordan’s documentary, Wallace said:
“My mentality changed when I watched ‘The Last Dance’. It’s like, ‘Okay, alright, I see what I need to be like as an athlete if I want to reach these goals and this is what I need to be like’.
“I mean, there’s a lot of pressure. But I keep telling them after the year we had in 2020, pressure is nothing but a thing,”
Given the racing equipment at RPM, Wallace was not exactly expected to win races. He did manage to achieve a career-best five top-10 finishes in the 2021 season.
However, with his new team, he will be expected to perform on a regular basis. He might not be judged on the number of wins in his first season, but that’s the target that the new team has for the seasons to come, to be competing regularly for wins and championships.
