Despite a stellar season in terms of the number of wins n 2020, co-owner Tony Stewart expects everyone to dig harder for the next season.
Kevin Harvick in the Cup Series and Chase Briscoe in the Xfinity Series were the two leading drivers with the most wins for Stewart-Haas Racing. However, Harvick failed to make it to the Championship 4 race despite the most wins in the Cup Series, and Briscoe came short in the final race of the season.
Speaking about the situation, Stewart said:
“Get to the end of the year, didn’t end up the way we wanted by any means. We had great win counts with Kevin Harvick and Chase Briscoe but couldn’t finish it off at the end of the year.
“And that was disappointing, I mean you work that hard all season and you have that kind of performance you feel like you’ve got a really good shot and it just didn’t work out. So the good thing about our organization, all that does is make all of us and everybody at the shop mad.
“When they get mad, we dig harder yet, so you know that’s just kind of the way we’ve always been. Something sets us back, and it seems like everybody just digs in that much harder.
Both Harvick and Briscoe will be driving in the Cup Series in the 2021 season for SHR. For Harvick, he would be looking to improve where he faltered in the 2020 season. As for Briscoe, it will be about adapting himself to the Cup Series.
