Chase Elliott admitted that he was not good enough in the Snowball Derby after finishing third in the late model racing event.

Having won the event twice in the past and coming at the back of his Cup Series win, expectations were high for Elliott when he announced that he would be taking part in this year’s edition.

Starting the event in P31, the Hendrick Motorsports driver could only finish as high as third, behind winner Ty Majeski and Derek Thorn.

Speaking after the race, Elliott was in praise for the winner and said that he was not just good enough.

“It was solid and good, just not good enough. You know first off, congrats to Ty.”

“He’s one of the few guys that is fortunate to travel around the country in these cars. And I’d say he is probably the best at being able to leave his home area and go somewhere else and battle and he has proved that consistently. So I’m really happy for them.”

“We were good, just not good enough. Those guys racing really hard put on a great race, I thought they left me every opportunity possible to join them.”

“I just couldn’t get there, I was trying really hard. Maybe too hard but wasn’t able to join them and yeah, wound up third.”

While Elliott might have not won the Snowball Derby their time, he will surely be looking to begin the 2021 Cup Series season on a high note.
