Joe Gibbs, the owner of Joe Gibbs Racing, pointed out that the circumstances created by the COVID-19 have led to Kyle Busch’s struggles this season.
The defending champion is having a disappointing standard by all means. He has failed to win a race in 31 races so far this season. Additionally, the threat of missing out on the next round looms large as the driver is outside of the transfer spot going into the cutoff race of the Round of 12 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Busch has previously mentioned that the lack of practice and qualifying sessions have led to his struggles this season. Now, Gibbs too said that these are the things that have affected Busch’s performances this season.
However, he added that people should not count Busch out yet.
“It’s been wild, what’s happened to him this year,” Gibbs said.
“The fact that we had so many changes because of COVID, there’s no practice, you go straight into the car. I think all those things have affected Kyle and the #18 team this year.
“We can definitely say, we can never count him out, I think he knows what the challenge is, this week, it’s gonna be a huge hurdle.”
