Quite a few drivers fell afoul of the track limits and paid for it extremely, one who suffered was Matt DiBenedetto. However, the likes of Chase Elliott and Denny Hamlin managed to escape sanctions without any penalty.
Chase Elliott got slapped with a penalty which was investigated by stewards further and they rescinded it. Speaking about the penalty and sudden reversal, Elliott was grateful for the reviewing of the incident. From his outlook, he was caught between having to cause a wreck or avoid one.
He stated: “I do feel like they got it right. I’m biased, but I do think that when you are put in a position where you have to decide whether or not to cause a wreck, that’s a tough one to be in.”
Chase Elliott’s penalty rescinded
The 24-y-o admitted that he did not feel like he needed to wreck any of the drivers. This is because had he hold his line, a crash would have been inevitable. Owing to this, he was glad that the officials considered that train of thought.
