Matt DiBenedetto went from hero to zero in just a split second at Talladega Superspeedway. The driver came so close to taking the victory but ended up finishing 2nd. Unfortunately, he was hard done in by a late penalty that dropped him from 2nd to 21st.

After the race, he spoke with the media confessing that it was such a crazy finish that he could hardly process it. DiBenedetto admitted that he simply wanted to get the car into Victory Lane.

He stated“I feel like it’s the same story. A lot of times, it’s just heartbreak. But I’m so appreciative of this team, I want this 100th win for Woods so bad.”

The 29-y o driver knew that Denny Hamlin was his biggest threat to victory lane. So he tried his very best to block him as much as he could. DiBenedetto also revealed that he had a sense of deja vu from Bristol, where he led at the restart.
